KASHISH celebrates Canadian films with the largest program ever under its Country Focus package – 22 films.

Ten not to be missed films at India’s and South Asia’s biggest and only mainstream LGBT film festival this year.

The 5th edition of KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival will be held May 21-25, 2014 at Liberty Cinema and May 22-24, 2014 at Alliance Francaise de Bombay. This year the festival will screen the largest collection of films -  154 films from 31 countries. This year the festival boasts of 11 World, 17 International and 39 Asian premieres.

Instituted in memory of late filmmaker Riyad Wadia, who made India’s first gay film BOMgAy. Indian narrative and documentary short films that are the filmmaker’s first and second film compete for this award which carries a plaque, a gift hamper, a free two day HD shooting kit (camera, mike and one light) sponsored by Accord Equips and Rs.15,000 cash award sponsored by Wadia Movietone.

Indian narrative short films made after January 1, 2014 and having their Indian Premiere at KASHISH compete for this award, which carries a plaque, a gift hamper , a free two day HD shooting kit (camera, mike and one light) sponsored by Accord Equips and and a cash award of Rs.20,000 sponsored by Anupam Kher's Actor Prepares. Five Indian Narrative Shorts have been considered for this category this year.

International narrative short films made after January 1, 2014, and having their Indian Premiere at KASHISH compete for this award, which carries a plaque and a gift hamper.

The best documentary short award category includes Indian and International films made in 2013/2014 which are of 40 minutes or lesser, and having an Indian Premiere at KASHISH. It carries a plaque, a gift hamper and a free two day HD shooting kit (camera, mike and one light) sponsored by Accord Equips.

The best documentary feature award category includes Indian and International films made after January 1, 2013 and having their Indian Premiere at KASHISH. It carries a plaque and a gift hamper.

The highest award at KASHISH is given to the best narrative feature film. This category includes Indian and International films made after January 1, 2013 and having their Indian Premiere at KASHISH. It carries a plaque, a gift hamper and a cash award of Rs.30,000 sponsored by Anupam Kher's Actor Prepares.
